Life is half full

As I have read back through my older posts, I feel as if they had a bit of a pessimistic feel to them.  I am not going to apologize for the way I was feeling, but have made the decision to try to be more optimistic, and drink from my life is half full cup.  I have really been enjoying my time with Elena as she is really beginning to develop her personality.  She is full of smiles and giggles, and honestly how can you feel bad when you have a giggling baby in your lap?  I know that we have hurdles to leap, but we are going to take them one at a time.  Spending time with my family over Thanksgiving really helped me to put things into perspective.  We just enjoyed ourselves the way we were and I didn’t feel quite so consumed with Down Syndrome — so thanks to my family!  We have been gearing up for Christmas around here, and life has gotten quite busy.  My husband has put aside his fears and decided to join us at a Christmas party for families of loved ones with DS, and for that I am most grateful.  Home has been a safe place for him and I am glad that he is willing to step out into new areas, I think that this will be good for him; as it has been for me.  So as this month of December is filling quickly, it is nice to know that we don’t have a multitude of doctors appointments this month.  I am choosing to enjoy this time with my kids because Christmas is so very magical through the eyes of our children.  I wish anyone reading this a very happy holiday season and urge you to find the wonderment as if you were a child again.
